Acuity Brands was awarded seven awards for lighting innovation from the 2013 Next Generation Luminaires Solid State Lighting Design Competition. The company was awarded a prestigious "Best in Class" award as well as six "Recognized" awards.
The awards were given to Peerless and Lithonia Lighting luminaires March 20th at the 2013 LEDucation 7 Conference. Judges for the conference evaluated and selected the most innovative indoor lighting products in the lighting industry.
Lithonia's Lighting W Series LED Wall Bracket won the award for "Best in Class" due to its quality, energy efficiency, dimmability, aesthetic appearance and style. The indoor LED lighting includes integrated controls to maximize energy savings in areas such as corridors, stairwells, restrooms and other low-traffic or low-occupancy areas.
The inspiration for the lighting design competition was created for designers and specifiers to find quality LED products. Acuity said the goal of the competition is to recognize energy-efficient products that also deliver good lighting quality and are attractive to consumers.
The Acuity products receiving "Recognized" awards were the Round LED luminaire, Mino LED luminaire and Origami LED luminaire by Peerless, as well as the I-BEAM LED high bay luminaire, IBH LED industrial low bay luminare and Proteon SL linear pendant luminare all by Lithonia Lighting.
Sizes 1 and 3 D-Series LED Floodlights also received a Recognized awards for product excellence at the competition.

The lighting design contest promotes excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED lighting for commercial, industrial and institutional lighting. Acuity said the competition is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, the Illuminating Engineering Society of North American and the International Association of Lighting Designers.
