The Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M., is raking in energy savings with new commercial lighting solutions from Cree in conjunction with lighting controls from Lutron.
The 270,000-square-foot facility saved on energy consumption by 34.2 percent in the commercial lighting’s first year of operation. As a result of the energy savings, the convention center will see a reduction of more than $120,000 annually in maintenance costs and $100,000 annually for energy expenses, allowing the new fixtures and controls to pay for themselves in a short time.
Several Cree products are used throughout the facility. The manufacturer’s CR Series LED architectural troffers, CS Series commercial LED lighting fixtures and SR6 and LR6 LED architectural downlights have been installed throughout the facility. These fixtures are complemented by a Lutron EcoSystem control system. In addition to providing noticeable energy savings, the new lighting will also deliver improved light quality and color consistency.
“By providing exceptional color quality and using just a fraction of the energy required to operate traditional lighting, long-lasting Cree LED lighting can continue to help draw visitors with better lighting and reduced energy and maintenance costs for years to come,” said Mike Bauer, vice president of lighting sales for Cree.
