Digital Lumens has aided in the energy savings at Greentown Labs by installing their Intelligent LED Lighting System at the new facility.
The commercial lighting system has been placed in the new location of the cleantech incubator at Somerville, Mass. Greentown’s new building is 33,000 feet and includes a prototyping space, machine shop, electronics shop, office space and event space. As a green energy research and development organization, they definitely want to cut down on their energy usage.
The donation will aid in the organization’s goal of creating and utilizing green energy solutions. Intelligent LED Lighting Systems from Digital Lumens offer 90 percent savings on lighting costs, according to the 2013 edition of Sustainia100. Based upon Energy Information Administration estimates, a building the size of the new Greentown Labs location uses 116 billion kilowatts per year. Their new lighting system will reduce that usage by 104 billion kilowatts.
Businesses and commercial properties are looking to more sustainable energy solutions to reduce their carbon footprint and yearly energy expenses. Digital Lumens’ support of Greentown Labs shows that industry leaders in lighting are on board with the expansion of LED technology so that the newest energy saving products can be in the hands of their customers.
