In a recent announcement, Digital Lumens revealed that it has brought the Internet of Lights to more than 100 million square feet of space through its intelligent LED lighting systems.
The reach of Digital Lumens’ products encompasses more than 1,000 large-scale commercial and industrial facilities across the globe. The widespread adoption of the company’s technologies demonstrates its prestige and commitment to offering top-notch devices for its customers. Digital Lumens CEO and President Tom Pincince extended his gratitude to the customers and partners who made this achievement possible.
“Our Intelligent Lighting System – which generates tremendous amounts of actionable building data – is helping our customers optimize numerous aspects of their operations, from staffing and inventory management to equipment utilization and facility-wide energy management,” Pincince said.
The Internet of Lights, a concept that falls under the Internet of Things, involves the wireless networking of low voltage LED lighting to gather meter and sensor information to be used for improving system operation. Pincince noted that lighting is the most apt vehicle for the Internet of Things, as lighting devices are almost ubiquitously present.
“Across the spectrum of IOT devices, intelligent lights actually pay for themselves with massive energy savings, while delivering a broad range of other building management capabilities,” he said.
Other achievements
As a result of its expansive customer base, Digital Lumens has a 50 percent market share in the intelligent LED lighting market. In 2013, the company provided energy-efficient lighting to 30 countries and broke into new industries such as sporting facilities, airplane hangers, chemical and hazardous locations, agriculture and retail environments and transportation depots.
Furthermore, Digital Lumens expanded its portfolio of digital lighting products with LightRules Power, Digital Light Agent Technology, and numerous other intelligent controls and fixtures.
Recognition for innovation
Digital Lumens is at the forefront of the green lighting industry, offering some of the best LED lights and controls available for commercial buildings. Due to its leadership in research and innovation, the company’s CTO and co-founder, Brian Chemel, will be the opening plenary speaker at the upcoming U.S. Department of Energy Solid-State Lighting R&D Workshop.
The event, which is to be held from Jan. 28-30, 2014, in Tampa, Fla., will explore how manufacturers of solid-state lighting products can continue to expand the use of green lighting devices into even more applications.
Chemel’s selection to speak at the event demonstrates Digital Lumens’ position as one of the most influential members of the lighting industry.
