In an effort to curb its environmental impact, the Las Vegas Sands Corp. installed new LED lighting from General Electric as part of its Sands ECO360 Green Meetings program. The expansive efficient commercial lighting was installed in the hotel's meeting spaces at The Venetian and The Palazzo Las Vegas, the company said in a statement.
The old halogen bulbs in the meeting rooms were replaced with more than 5,700 energy smart BR30 LED lamps from GE's ecomagination line. According to the report, the 12-watt lamps have a lifespan of approximately 25,000 hours and will use 108 fewer watts per fixture than the previous bulbs. The company will be able to save more than $400,000 in annual lighting costs and reduce electricity use by almost 4.1 million kilowatt hours. The company plans to invest the savings into other initiatives that demonstrate Las Vegas Sands' environmental commitment.
Las Vegas Sands installed energy-efficient LEDs from GE in 2010 at The Venetian and The Palazzo in more than 7,000 guest suites. In those rooms, 7-watt PAR20 LED lamps were installed. The energy-efficient solutions in meeting spaces and suites have helped Las Vegas Sands reduce annual lighting costs by almost $2 million.
