The work that the Monterey Lighting Solutions team puts in each day helps support our goal of bringing more transparency to the lighting process — from start to finish. When they’re not showing clients the smarter way to source lighting, our employees have their own hobbies and interests that shape who they are today. In our Employee Spotlight series, we introduce some of the faces that make up Monterey Lighting Solutions.
1. Where did you grow up and where are you based now?
My dad was a chemical engineer so we moved quite a bit when I was young. I was born in Charleston and moved to Baton Rouge when I was 8 years old. I graduated from LSU with an Associate Degree in Pre-Med and followed with a BFA from NTSU in Interior Architecture and minor in Art History. I also lived in Hong Kong for a while before moving to Los Angeles in 1996. I now live in Santa Monica with my daughter.
2. What do you do at Monterey Lighting Solutions?
I am excited to have the opportunity to be a “change agent” representing Monterey Lighting as a Senior Account Executive.
3. What brought you to Monterey Lighting?
Will Schard with Swoon Staffing made the introductions and the rest is history! What I enjoy most about working at Monterey Lighting are the people I get to work with every day and seeing a finished project’s original design intent with the budget protected, ordered, and delivered on time.
4. What does the “Smarter Way to Source Lighting” mean to you?
To me, it means that Monterey Lighting is the solution to the traditional issues in the lighting industry. We do this by partnering with design firms and providing specialized support to meet the owner’s budget objective with the line-item pricing needed to make informed decisions on lighting and control products.
5. What’s the most exciting project you are working on right now?
I am very thankful to be working on my first order for an F+B in San Francisco with an amazing design team, SoCal Agent, and the Monterey Lighting team, who helped build a new customer account with the owners.
6. What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
Bootcamp with an amazing trainer, Adam Brewer of Westside Adventure Boot Camp!
7. What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to hike! My favorites are Paseo Miramar, Westside Ridge, and the beach.
8. Tell us something most people would be surprised to learn about you.
I lived in Hong Kong for nine years and started my own LD firm called MDI.
9. Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Wow, this one is tough! The first one that comes to mind is to always wake up with a grateful heart, no matter what the current circumstances might be.
