Five Star Parking runs the Parking Palace in downtown San Diego, a multi-level parking garage that provides 200,000 square feet of parking/675 stalls. To brighten the garage and improve visitor safety throughout the structure, Five Star Parking turned to Monterey Lighting to replace aging 175 watt metal halide lamps with high efficiency T8 Vaportight fixtures, and change older T12 fixtures with low wattage T8 lamps and ballasts. Monterey Lighting also installed compact fluorescent and pulse start metal halide fixtures in place of inefficient lighting on the roof parking area. As a result, Five Star Parking is saving more than $37,000 in annual energy costs and realized project payback in just a few months. In addition, Monterey helped Five Star Parking take advantage of a utility rebate offer worth more than $35,000that reduced out-of-pocket costs to just $7,500.
